Gangnam 88 @ Sunway Giza Mall, Kota Damansara

Gangnam 88 @ Sunway Giza Mall, Kota Damansara

Oppa Gangnam Style! I think no one doesn't know about this song by PSY from Korea. Yeah, I'm going to blog about a Korean restaurant today. Gangnam 88 is located at the centre of Sunway Giza Mall. However it's not easy to be noticed because it's at first floor of the building. But if you know De' Budget.com then it's just right above.

When you stepped in the lift, you can see a big logo of Gangnam 88.

The varieties of the menu is quite wide. We were first served with 7 banchan (sides dishes). The side dishes is just normal and not really authentic.

Dwaeji Galbi Large RM49
(Small RM33)
Dwaeji Galbi is one of my favorite among so many BBQ items due to its right ratio of sweetness and saltiness. This is also the recommended dish on the menu and they claim that the recipes of the sauce is from South Korea Jeju Island restaurant. The doneness  of the meat is also just right and tender.

There are so many types of lettuce in the market, and I like this kind the most. The lettuce is also very fresh.

Dak Galbi Large RM49
(Small RM33)
The Dak Galbi is quite different to the one that we usually eat like in Uncle Jang or most Dak Galbi restaurants. It's not stir fried to dry but has much sauce and served with Udon noodle. It's served in a small pot on small stove to keep the warmth of the dish. I think it tastes quite not bad and good to eat with a bowl of rice but I still prefer the Dak Galbi that we usually eat which is more fragrant.

Osam Bulgogi RM45
Osam actually means squid in Korean and so Osam Bulgogi is squid mixed with pork belly. It's served with varies vegetables and also good to be served with rice too. It won't be very spicy, even though the color appears to be very spicy.

Every main dishes above also come with rice and steamed egg.
Ramyun RM15.80
Actually Ramyun is really my favorite food all the time, but it's still unhealthy to eat so often. So we just order one to be shared.

Kimchi Pajeon RM29.80

The boss recommended me this Kimchi Pajeon (Kimchi pancake). However I think it is not really nice, as I think that it's too thick and it's quite sour for my liking. It is served with wasabi and soy sauce. Is it common to eat it this way? I don't know, because it's the first time I eating this way.

Beer Chicken RM50

Beer Chicken is the best seller on the menu. So we decided to give it a try. It's prepared with Gangnam 88's secret recipe of herbs and spices. The chicken is served as shown in the picture above, and then their staff will cut it into pieces for you on the spot. So never worry of dirtying your hand to cut it yourself. It's called Beer Chicken but actually I don't taste any beer. Perhaps they overcooked it and hence the texture is quite dry, but if it's eaten with the mustard-mayo-like sauce then it balances up the moisture of the meat.

Steamed Egg
Complimentary Steamed Egg that comes with the main dishes. Too bad that the bottom part of the egg is a little bit burnt.

Citrus Tea RM7.20
Quite appetizing drinks, with right ratio of sourness and sweetness.

Ice Hazelnut Latte RM10.80
Hazelnut Blended RM11.80
The coffee drinks are not really nice. Not really recommended to order coffee drinks.

They also sell some ice-cream imported from Korea. When I was just taking photo of it, then the boss offered me to choose one for free. This is basically a frozen milkshake in a soft pack, the taste is not bad, but a bit too sweet for me as I'm not so into sweet food.

See those hats hung on the wall? It's actually for sale.

Overall I think the food is at decent level, but the drinks is so so only. Choice wise, they provide a wide varieties of food on menu. The boss are all youngster Korean. Their English maybe not be that fluent, but are all very friendly. If I have chance I will revisit this restaurant to support them, as I myself actually also wish to run my own restaurant in the future.

San Nae Deul Korean BBQ Buffet @ Nexus, Bangsar South

San Nae Deul Korean BBQ Buffet @ Nexus, Bangsar South

I'm a Korean food lover, so I will always try to look for good Korean food with reasonable price. However, if I want to eat to full at ala carte Korean restaurant without ordering main dish, it will definitely cost me more than RM50 or even more. So for me this kind of big eater, buffet will be the better choice for sure lol. I spotted this promotion running on Groupon priced at RM39 nett for dinner, but when I came here only realized that the promotional price is RM40 without voucher (just not sure is it nett price). What a nice business trick huh? Anyway, just ignore and enjoy the dinner.

Mr.Dakgalbi is another Korean restaurant in PV128, Setapak. This is the fifth branch of Mr.Dakgalbi. For its namesake, Mr.Dakgalbi is specializing in serving "Dakgalbi" which is a stir-fried marinated chicken with rice cake and various vegetables originated from Chuncheon, Korea.

BBQ Chicken @ Wangsa Walk Mall, Wangsa Maju

BBQ Chicken @ Wangsa Walk Mall, Wangsa Maju

Korean cuisine was growing rapidly since few years back, we could simply find a Korean restaurant in Klang Valley area. However, most of the restaurants are only serving BBQ, Dakgalbi (stir-fried chicken), steamboat and etc. Korean fried chicken is not yet so popular and common. As I know so far only a few restaurants that mainly serve Korean fried chicken.

BBQ Chicken is one of the franchise restaurant from Korea. More precisely, it's a Korean and Western fusion cuisine restaurant. BBQ Chicken has outlets in 59 countries worldwide, and had opened 17 outlets over the whole Malaysia, and still coming.

풀향기Pul Hyang Gi Korean Restaurant @ PV128, Setapak

풀향기Pul Hyang Gi Korean Restaurant @ PV128, Setapak

풀향기 Pul Hyang Gi is another Korean Restaurant in PV128, Setapak other than San Ma Eul which I blogged about before. Unlike San Ma Eul, the location is very unstrategic, because it cannot be noticed easily from the main road. It's just one floor above of  不见不散 Pat Kin Pat San. (Taking the lift besides Pat Kin Pat San, goes to first floor. It's just at the left hand side.)
