IKU Japanese Fusion Sushi @ SS15, Subang

IKU Japanese Fusion Sushi @ SS15, Subang

This restaurant is strategically located right opposite of Asia Cafe SS15, because this area is always full of crowd. However I never realized the existence of this restaurant even though I visit here quite often, until recently I saw the promotion running at Groupon. So I decided to give it a try.

The interior space of this restaurant is quite small and the seat is quite limited too. This restaurant does not have sushi-belt like what normally ordinary Japanese restaurants have. (Not to say about fine dining Japanese restaurant.)

The reason why this restaurant claims themselves as fusion Japanese sushi restaurant is because they serve more than 10 types of sauces that cannot be found in ordinary Japanese restaurant. I was served with 6 types of sauces (upon request) including Spicy Mayonnaise, Spicy Ponzu Garlic, Strawberry, Honey Wasabi, Yuzu, and Fuji Volcano (rotating clockwise from top). I personally prefer Honey Wasabi and Spicy Mayonnaise. The Strawberry sauce is kind of unmatched for sushi.

Sashimi Combo B (RM28.30)
- 3 Slices of Red Tuna Maguro
- 3 Slices of Salmon Belly
- 3 Slices of Hokkigai (Raw Surf Clam)
- 3 Slices of Nitako (Octopus Slice)
Sashimi is a MUST ORDER food in Japanese cuisine. It determines the quality of the restaurant directly. I will only give 3/5 for this sashimi.

Soft Shell Crab Maki (RM11.80)

Tempura Moriawase (RM9.80)
The tempura is kinda poor, the batter is not well fried. I'm not sure what is the prawn that they use, but it doesn't have the taste and natural sweetness of prawn. The tempura is not served with ginger dipping sauce. So I dip with the fusion sauce served. It's still OK to dip with it since the prawn is quite tasteless while the sauce is quite strong.

Lisa Crunch (RM15.80)
- Tempura Prawn and Avocado with Cream Cheese wrapped with sushi rice served with Wasabi, Unagi and Mango Sauce.
As its name, it comes with some crunchy thingy, which is actually the fried tempura batter. This is very special and taste quite not bad, worth for a try.

New York Roll (RM19.80)
- Snow Crab Leg, BBQ Chicken, Cream Cheese wrapped with sushi rice & Deep Fried Potato Strips with Chef's Signature Sauce.
For me this is quite full as the wrapping rice is quite a lot.

Yaki Hotate ( Cheese Scallop RM13.80)
The scallop doesn't really have the natural sweetness of scallop. The cheese is also over grilled, causing it to be a little bit bitter.

Rock Shrimp Martini (RM15.80)
- Shrimp Tempura, Mango, Cucumber with Spicy Creamy Sauce served in martini glass with Chef's Signature Sauce.
This is also a very special dish that cannot be found in any other authentic Japanese restaurants. It's quite flavorful. The taste is nice but it's not really worthy to try as the portion of shrimp is very little. I feel like I'm eating fruit salad.

Baked Snow Crab Roll (RM18.80)
- Crab Stick Mayo and Cream Cheese wrapped with sushi rice topped with Snow Crab Leg & Shrimp Roe
Dragon Roll (RM15.80)
- Tiger Prawn Meat wrapped in sushi rice topped with slices of Avocado, Mayo and Shrimp Roe.
Dragon Roll at this price is quite reasonable and worth to try. The taste is not bad too.

Ebi Mentai (RM18.90)
- Fresh Water Prawn topped with Roasted Mentai.
The prawn is fresh but I think the skin of the prawn should be peeled wider before topped with the Mentai. So that the sauce can be soaked into the flesh.

Some ordinary sushis
-Inari 2pcs RM2.00
-Inari Tuna Mayo RM 5.00
- Salmon Sushi RM4.80

Sonshoko Hana Salmon (RM12.80)
The shrimp roe is a little bit too salty, for me.

Besides these authentic Japanese food and Fusion food. The restaurant also serves Western food, likes Spaghetti and Pizza.
Classic Spaghetti Aglio Olio (RM15.80)

This restaurant also serves main course like Don, Bento, Ramen, Udon and Soba. Salad, desserts are also served. Too bad I have no extra space in stomach to try out more. I visited around 9pm and they have run out of oyster, chawanmushi and scallop. So please do visit earlier to avoid disappointment.
